Burials in the Victoria Cemetery, 1856 to 1857

Source: St John's Cathedral archives, items 35-25-03 and 30-25-05

The registers of burials from 1856 onwards, held at St John's Church, now included more details. In particular there is more information in the column 'Birth place', and there is the inclusion of a new column 'Abode at time of death'.

The columns in the table below, and in successive tables, are in a different sequence. The complete detail is reproduced here, with the exception of the grave number and burial number.

The other major change is that from the beginning of 1856, only the burials of members of St John's Church (Anglicans), St Andrew's Church (Presbyterians) and the American Church (Methodists) are now recorded in this series of registers. This policy was to change again in 1858.
